Assistant coach of Ghana’s U-17 men’s national team, Nana Kweku Agyemang, has said the team is now ready to face Nigeria in the 3rd place play-off in the ongoing WAFU Zone B tournament at the University of Ghana Stadium on Tuesday, May 28.

Burkina Faso upset the Black Starlets in the semi-final on Saturday, preventing them from progressing to the final of the competition.

Following the 2-1 loss, Laryea Kingston announced that he had stepped down from his role as the head coach, adding to the problems in the camp of the team.

However, ahead of the Nigeria game on Tuesday afternoon, Kweku Agyemang has explained that the technical team has managed to get the team ready for the game.

“After the defeat to Burkina Faso, it was a little rough but we have been able to psych the boys up and then we’ve gotten them back in. The boys are ready because they have a lifeline and they know that they have to take the lifeline to be able to qualify for AFCON,” he said.

“They are all geared up, trying to make up for that loss and also they know that it’s a defining moment for them. They want to be able to go to AFCON, not just there, but be able to also qualify for World Cup.”

Winning against Nigeria will boost the chances of the Black Starlets to make it to the AFCON.
