The Black Starlets of Ghana have qualified for the semi-final of the ongoing WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship after they beat Benin in their second Group A game on Tuesday evening at the University of Ghana Stadium.
Ghana enjoyed a lot of dominance in the early part of the start of the first half, scoring two quick goals in three minutes.
It all started with Joseph Narbi, who took the ball on the left side of the center line, and took on two Benin defenders before putting the ball in front of Kagawa, who put it over the Benin goalkeeper with a lob to give Ghana the lead on the 19th minute.
Theophilus Ayamga added the second three minutes after, with a powerful long range effort into the lower right corner of the goal post.
The young Cheetahs however, grew into the game, and managed to cut out Ghana’s dominance but Laryea Kingston’s men maintained their lead till the end of the first half.
After the recess, Benin threatened to find a way back into the game, but they were unable pose any danger in front of goal with the starlets maintaining their two-goal lead at the end of the final whistle.
