Head coach of Ghana’s U-17 men’s national team, Laryea Kingston has insisted that his side is fully focused on maintaining a hundred percent record in the ongoing WAFU Zone B U-17 championship.
He was speaking ahead of the Black Starlet’s second group A game against Benin at the University of Ghana Stadium Tuesday evening.
The starlets had won their first match against Ivory Coast to put them top of the group.
Despite the emphatic victory in their first game, Laryea Kingston has rejected any form of complacency in the game against Benin.
“We’re very ready, as you can see from the team’s preparation. The boys for me after the win against Ivory Coast were excited and celebrated for just a day and after that our focus was on Benin,” he said.
“We are ready for Benin though it is very tough, we have respect for every opponent. For complacency, I don’t think it is in our dictionary. The boys want to keep 100 percent record, so they approach all games with all seriousness. The Benin game will not be anything different.”
Ghana is looking to qualify for the 2025 U-17 after failing to make an appearance in the last two editions.
