A manhunt is currently underway for a suspect who allegedly murdered his girlfriend in Wassa Hemanso, a community in the Wassa East District.
The suspect, identified as Oboy Siki, is said to have killed Akua Daboa over suspicions of infidelity.
According to reports, the tragic incident stemmed from an earlier altercation involving the suspect, the victim, and another individual identified as Kobby.
The conflict reportedly began on Sunday around 4 p.m., prompting local authorities to intervene. Nana Yaw Appiah, the Mmrantiehene (youth leader) of Wassa Hemanso, stated that all three individuals were summoned to the Hemanso palace after Oboy Siki attacked Kobby, who is currently receiving medical treatment at the Twifo Atti Morkwa District Hospital in Twifo Praso.
Following the altercation, the chief of Hemanso, Nana Adutwi Abam, ordered residents to hand over the suspect to the Daboase Police Command.
However, in a shocking turn of events, Oboy Siki reportedly managed to escape from police custody at Wassa Ateiku Police Station. He later returned to the community and allegedly murdered Akua Daboa at dawn.
Nana Adutwi Abam, who also serves as the Nifahene of the Twifo Traditional Council, has called on the Ghana Police Service to investigate how the suspect was able to escape from custody and commit the alleged crime.
Meanwhile, residents of Wassa Hemanso are assisting authorities in efforts to locate the fugitive.
