Communications director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum has disclosed that the association has plans to turn Prampram into a three or four-star hotel that can house all the national teams.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Mr. Asante said it is shameful that Ghana cannot boast of benefiting from the money that FIFA has given us for participating in three different world cups in past years and as a result, many projects have been proposed in their last executive council meeting to transform Prampram into an ultra-modern edifice.
“I am glad that the minister was on the floor of parliament recently to say that we will have our own legacy project.
“Because, if we have participated in three world cups and there is nothing to put a finger on, it is shameful”
He added that apart from using the money Ghana received from FIFA to purchase vehicles for the Regional Football Associations in 2006, we have not benefited from participating in any world cup.
He thus said the plan of the GFA this time, is to use the proceeds from the 2022 Qatar World Cup to embark on a project at Prampram, which will be able to host our national teams.
“At the last executive council meeting, a number of projects were proposed.
“We want to turn Prampram into an edifice that can house all our national teams, at least a three or four-star hotel, with about 60 to 70 bedrooms.”
Ghana will receive an amount of $9 million from FIFA for the group-stage matches in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
