The ousted Assin North legislator, Mr. James Gyakye Quayson has spoken for the first time after the Supreme Court stripped him off his parliamentary duties.

In a press statement issued by the embattled MP, Mr. Quayson sent a message of relief to his constituents who according to his statement, made a call on him to take up the mantle and secure the parliamentary seat.

“I would have given up this fight by now if I were fighting on my own volition or for my personal gratification.

“I came down here to take up this mantle upon your numerous calls and at this point I live not for myself but for your interest, especially the teeming youth in the constituency who have proved to me that, you have what it takes to make Assin North great and strong given the needed support and direction”

He also noted that he is by no chance letting it slide, the relentless efforts made the constituents to deter government’s desire of undermining the choices of the people.

“I remain overwhelmed by your out-pour of unalloyed Solidarity and brazen commitment in the face of the callous desire of the government to undermine your will and choices”.

“I am emboldened by your unwavering support to keep soldiering on and I am optimistic our laugh shall be the best because we shall definitely laugh last”.

The Supreme Court by  a 5-2 majority decision stripped off Mr. Quayson off the position of a legislator for the Assin North base on its findings that, the former MP holds Ghanaian and Canadian dual citizenship.
