A 13.9million dollars official residence under construction for the country’s vice presidents has been left uncompleted since 2015.
The cost of the project was vehemently criticized by vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in 2017 saying the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would take a closer look at the Public Procurement Act to terminate sole-sourcing procurement.
A visit to the stalled vice president’s residence at cantonment by the Republic Press news team shows that the existing project is gradually losing its shine as weeds take over the residence.
A tour around the residence also reveals that some squatters might have occupied the uncompleted building. Although there was no one around the stalled residence at the time of visit by the news team, there were cloths hanged on a line and around windows of some of the rooms indicating that some people suspected to be squatters sleeping at the residence at night.
