The Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Bagbin has sent a word of remorse to the Ghanaian people as parliamentary proceedings began on Tuesday, January 25, 2022.

The Speaker, who appeared in the parliamentary chamber cladded in a King’s regalia, further sent a word of caution to the members of Parliament over their misconduct in the first session.

“I attach my closings remarks to this statement, and same shall be captured in the official report of Parliament as so presented. The lessons of the first session has been learnt by all of us and we should all pledge not to see and repeat those violent “nasty” things as well as pledge to defend and uphold the image of Parliament.” He said

The speaker, also commended the leaders of the NPP and NDC caucus respectively for apologizing on behalf of the House.

“I’m happy the leaders have taken the lead to apologize on behalf of this house to the good of Ghana and to pledge that, we will sin no more”.

The speaker, further reiterated his commitment to hold members of the house to the strict adherence of the rules, ethics, courtesies and code of conduct.

He added that, the house will work to promote orderly behavior and the use of decent parliamentary language in the deliberations of the house.

According to the speaker, the house will now not be waiting for anyone to be raising the point of order and that, anyone presiding, will at any time call members to disorder when they use unparliamentary language.
