The Inspector General of Police James Oppong- Boanuh has given clearance to the Youth Wing of National Democratic Congress (NDC) to go ahead with their protest.

The demonstration dubbed ‘A March for Justice’ which is slated for Tuesday July 6, is in solidarity of all civilians who have been brutalised, lynched under the Akufo-Addo-led Administration whilst pushing for Justice for them. It also seeks to mount intense pressure on government to fix the burning unemployment problem facing the country.

The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has earlier written to the NDC that it will not provide protection for demonstrators in honour of Covid-19 protocols and Executive Instrument issued by President Akufo-Addo.

In view of this, the NDC has declared to run to court and compel the police to protect them comes Tuesday crucial protest, threatening to mount intense pressure on the police.

But, even before the NDC runs to court, the IGP said his officers will provide adequate protection for demonstrators at a crunch meeting held yesterday.

According to the IGP, “The police is poised to provide the necessary security for the safety of the plan demonstration by the Youth Wing of the NDC on Tuesday July 6”.

Accordingly, the NDC has informed all and sundry to converge at Accra Mall on Tuesday for the protest.
