The Convener of Fixing The Country Movement, Mr. Ernest Owusu-Bempah has given the Inspector General of Police (IGP) a seven-day-ultimatum to arrest and prosecute conveners of #FixTheCountry group.
The group, Mr. Owusu-Bempah said are nation wreckers who are aligned to the opposition National Democratic Congress to destabilise the peace of Ghana.
“These nation wreckers, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, Mensah Thompson, Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah and Captain Smart cannot take the nation into ransom for seeking to stage demonstrations for four consecutive days with their own armed security detail.”
“We, men and women of Fixing The Country Movement would resist any attempt aimed at curtailing the peace in the country and so we are sounding a warning to them that we will meet them on the street if they defiled the police order,” he stated.
Mr. Owusu-Bempah said although the group recognizes the importance of the constitutionally protected rights to assemble and protest, Fixing The Country Movement abhors and rejects the acts that perpetuate systemic violence and undermining of institutions of state.
“It is horrific and ultimately tragic to note that there are people in this country who want the disruption of the relative peace that we’re enjoying.”
Mr. Owusu-Bempah alleged that Oliver Barker-Vormawor posted random video of a burning V8 vehicle with the caption ‘Has the revolution started’ and this same guy is asking the police administration to allow him demonstrate with weapons.
He indicated that even though citizens are entitled to call for accountable governance and leadership one must watch out for people who have hidden agendas and pretending to be more patriotic than the rest of Ghanaians.
