A section of aggrieved women at the Bekwai Market have said they will mobilize their members to vote out the ruling New Patriotic Party [NPP] government over outrageous payment of market levy.
The market women described the Bekwai Municipal Assembly Revenue collectors as incompetent.
Their agitation comes after the Bekwai Municipal Assembly ordered them to pay a levy of Ghc500 to secure a place in the market.
Speaking to the PRO for the Bekwai Market Women Association, Sister Fremah, said they pay dues to the Assembly each day and every month but they are surprised the Assembly is demanding GHc500 from each trader.
She appealed to the Bekwai Municipal Assembly to reconsider its decision and have a fruitful negotiation that will benefit both parties else they will vote against NPP come 2024.
“They think Bekwai Constituency has been voting for them so they can take the constituents, especially the market women for granted.
They only approach when there’s is an election, then they come and lie to us.” Market Women said
