The Communications and Digitalisation Minister, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, on Sunday, 12 September 2021, met with the Chiefs and people of Esaase and Edawuakurom in the Akontombra Constituency on connectivity issues.

The Chiefs were full of praises for the massive roads construction, schools, and portable drinking water brought to their various communities by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

That notwithstanding, the chief of Esaase, Nana Kwaku Ntuah II, called on the administration through the minister to as a matter of urgency fix the challenges of network accessibility in the communities.

“I have improvised and gotten a device to provide a network for just the Palace. The whole town does come here for their phone calls and that inconveniences me a lot. I have no privacy in my Palace. Please grant us connectivity,” he told the communications and digitalisation minister.

On his part, the Chief of Edawuakurom promised to give the government lands needed for developmental projects in the community.

The minister assured the chief of Esaase, Nana Kwaku Ntuah II of the Akufo-Addo administration’s resolve to bridge the country’s widening digital and network challenges.

Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), is constructing more than 100 telecom masts in the Western North Region and Akontombra Constituency has 14 of them.

“I am optimistic that connectivity issues will be a thing of the past soon,” Ursula said.

Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful is on a seven-day working tour of the Western North region.
