The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Afram Plains South Constituency in the Eastern Region, Joseph Appiah Boateng has experienced disappointment in the Government and the Volta River Authority for neglecting them after the recent Akosombo and Kpong Dam spillages.

Speaking on Dofopa FM the MP lamented that since the spillage that has seen his constituents affected, he has been to various offices for support but no positive results.

“I have been to NADMO district office, they directed me to the regional office, the regional office also directed me to the national office and I have been there 6 times and no one has come to our aid”, the MP said.

He is therefore appealing to the general public to come to their aid in any form to bring normalcy to the people of Afram Plains South.

So far some 25 communities in Kwahu Afram Plains South have been affected by the Akosombo Dam spillage and over 2,000 residents are homeless.

The Presiding Member for Afram Plains South who also doubles as the Assembly Member for Ekye Amanfrom, Theophilus Avor, also indicated that the Akosombo Dam spillage has affected most of his community members and further appealed to the government and non-governmental organization for support.

He further charged landlords who have taken the opportunity to increase rent to desist from such behavior and finally thanked the Member of Parliament for the area, Joseph Appiah Boateng for his donation to some of the victims.
