A 27-year-old man has been arrested by the Sefwi Police for allegedly shooting a motor rider he hired.
Sources revealed that the suspect, Prince Yoma, hired the motor rider, Charles Bosompim from Sefwi Essase, a farming community in the Akontombra district to transport him to Sefwi Ahibenso in the Bodi district.
The suspect then diverted their route through a lonely and quiet area with the explanation of receiving money from a colleague working in a mining site along the road.
On their way, Prince Yoma pulled out a locally manufactured pistol and shot the motor rider in the neck unprovoked.
Recounting the incident, the victim said he fell flat and pretended he was dead while the suspect retrieved items of interest including the motorbike.
The victim added that he rushed to seek help from some residents after the suspect had left the scene and he was aided by some nearby farmers.
He was sent to the hospital at Sefwi Juaboso but later referred to Asafo and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.
The police were informed which led to the arrest of the suspect.
Prince Yoma is currently in police custody and the investigation is ongoing. Items including the motorbike, two Ghana cards, and a pistol were retrieved.
