A 39-year-old administrator, Louisa Amoako Boadu, is facing trial at the Dansoman Circuit Court presided over by Her Honour Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Baasit for allegedly defrauding a logistics officer of over GH¢281,000 under the pretense of investing in a Vodafone scratch card distribution business.

Boadu has been formally charged with defrauding by false pretence, in violation of Section 131(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).

According to the prosecution led by Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder, told the court that the complainant, Godfred Ofori, a Logistics Coordinator residing at Odorkor Official Town, was approached by the accused in January 2021. Boadu, a resident of Dansoman, is said to have convinced Mr. Ofori to invest GH¢281,880 into what she claimed was a lucrative Vodafone scratch card distribution venture.

Trusting her proposal, Ofori reportedly raised the funds, some of which he borrowed from colleagues at his workplace, with the understanding that the money would be invested in the telecom distribution business and repaid within a specified timeframe.

However, investigators allege that Boadu diverted the funds into a pharmaceutical business instead—without informing the complainant or seeking his consent.

According to the prosecution, she made no effort to fulfill her original promise and missed the repayment deadline entirely.

After months of failed attempts to retrieve his money, Mr. Ofori filed a formal complaint with the police on August 26, 2022. Boadu was later arrested, and during questioning, reportedly admitted to receiving GH¢281,881 from the complainant.

She also acknowledged repaying GH¢106,000, leaving an outstanding balance of GH¢175,880, which remains unpaid despite repeated demands.

Following a police investigation, she was charged and brought before the court. However, when the case was called on June 2, 2025, Boadu failed to appear in court.

The court has adjourned the matter to June 25, 2025, at which time the accused is expected to be present to respond to the charges.
