An unemployed lady, Helena Aba Kwansah Abakah who is reported to have lied to her husband that she was pregnant and had given birth in Kumasi allegedly stole a baby to present to her husband as their child.
According police investigations, Helena told her husband Abdulai Salu she was pregnant before their marriage in April, 2025.
Prosecution said in October 2025, the accused allegedly informed her husband that she had given birth in Kumasi, but claimed the baby had been placed in an incubator due to health complications.
After failing to present the child to him despite repeated requests, Helena is said to stolen an 8-year-old, a child of a hairdresser at Bogoso.
Investigators concluded that after allegedly stealing the baby on December 24, 2025, the accused presented the child to her husband as their own.
Helena has since been formally charged and remains before the court as proceedings continue.
