Presidential Aspirant for the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Nana Akosua Sarpong-Kumankumah, has pledged her commitment to champion the rights of women through her entire political journey.

She revealed that, out of Ghana’s population of over 30 million with over 16 million being women and representing 50.3% are critical for nation building.

Nana Akosua Sarpong-Kumankumah made this known at a launch of a Support for a Female President Project held in Accra with the mission to promote and advocate for gender equality in leadership positions, specifically in the highest office of the country.

“Ghanaian women make up almost half of our population, yet their presence in our nation’s highest political office has been far too sparse.

We need motherly voices at the table with broader range of perspectives, experiences and ideas that can shape policies and decisions for a better Ghana”.

The CPP Presidential Aspirant was of the view that, every capable and qualified individual, regardless of their gender, should have equal opportunity to lead the country hence, the launch of Female President Project.

“By supporting a female president, we are not only promoting gender equality, but we are also creating a future where leadership is based on merit, not on outdated societal norms.

Launching our support for a female president is not just a mere symbolic act.It is a call to action for all of us. It is an invitation to stand up and actively contribute to breaking down the gender barriers that have held women back for far too long”.

A change she indicated, does not come easily but requires persistence, resilience, and a collective effort.
