The trial of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is scheduled to begin on January 12, 2026, with the prosecution expected to call its first witness.
The case concerns allegations that Chairman Wontumi permitted mining activities on his Samreboi concession without the necessary authorization. The matter was adjourned for trial after the prosecution completed its disclosures.
At proceedings on Wednesday, December 17, the court confirmed that the prosecution had submitted all relevant documents and, with no pending applications, ordered the trial to be scheduled.

GHS157,000 in cash and live BB cartridges

Following the January 12 commencement, the trial will continue on January 13, 15, 19, 20, 26, and 29, and further sessions are scheduled for February 3, 4, 10, 12, and 15, 2026, as witnesses are called to testify.
