Aspiring National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Mahama, has challenged executives at all levels of the party to prepare to work harder than before to canvass for votes and ensure the policing of the ballot at the various polling stations during the 2024 general elections.
Speaking to branch and constituency executives on day two of his ‘Building the Ghana we want’ campaign, Mr. Mahama charged them to own not only his flagbearer campaign but the 2024 campaign.
“The hard work will be done by you the branch executives, and you must be prepared to work and protect our votes at the various polling stations”, he charged the delegates.
Day two of the campaign covered the Central Tongu, Ketu North, Akatsi South, Akatsi North and Agotime Ziope Constituencies.
President Mahama, who is being accompanied on his campaign by members of parliament, regional executives, members of the regional council of elders and former appointees, used the opportunity to also caution regional and constituency executives about the distribution of party materials.
“When we send party paraphernalia and logistics for groundwork, don’t keep them to yourselves. They are for the branches, so send them promptly to the branch executives and to the branch members to motivate and empower them to work”, Mr. Mahama repeated in the various constituencies.
The aspiring flagbearer also called for a careful selection of competent polling agents, advising the executives not to select agents based on who joined the party first or favour their relatives.
“You need somebody who is educated, who can work arithmetic. If you cannot work arithmetic, you are of no use to us, as a polling agent. If you are a chairman or executive and you are not qualified, you have children who are in the university or training colleges, bring them and let us train them”, he added.
