Dr. Joseph Yammin, National Organizer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has finally responded to recent allegations linking him to illegal mining activities after the Attorney General’s directive for an investigation.

In a cryptic message posted on his official Facebook page, Dr. Yammin recalled a story from his time at the 4BN Barracks, alluding to a warning and promising, “Tomorrow everyone will hear from us.”

The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, on July 15, 2025, ordered the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to conduct a full-scale probe into the alleged involvement of senior political figures, including Dr. Yammin and NDC Vice Chairman Yakubu Abanga, in unauthorized mining, popularly known as galamsey.

This directive was issued amid intensifying public concern and media scrutiny over illegal mining operations that continue to damage Ghana’s environment, including water bodies and forest reserves, and threaten local livelihoods.

Responding on his official Facebook page, Dr. Yammin did not directly address the allegations but shared a vivid story from his days at the 4BN Barracks.

He recounted how a soldier once caught their group attempting to catch a cat belonging to him, warning them with resolute certainty, “Joe, so you people wanted to add my cat to what you are preparing?” Though they denied involvement, the soldier said, “I saw these dogs around you chasing my cat and you are here denying.”

His parting words “TOMORROW EVERYBODY GO HEAR OF IT” proved prophetic as news spread rapidly the next morning. Dr. Yammin ended with a stern reminder, “When you see a lion sleeping please don’t wake it up because you may not like what the action of the lion,” borrowing the soldier’s words, “TOMORROW EVERYONE WILL HEAR OF US.”

Read the full response from Dr. Joseph Yammin.

Once upon a time in 4BN barracks complex,we use to go hunting for cats and in one of our hunting expedition we chanced upon a cat which belongs to a soldier and as we were closing in on catching the cat the owner of the cat came out of his room and we had to run for cover. Typical of a soldier he traced us to where we had camped preparing one that we had caught already. Upon approaching us he said Joe so you people wanted to add my cat to what you are preparing which we flatly denied but he said I saw these dogs around you chasing my cat and you are here denying. These were his last statement before leaving us.

TOMORROW EVERYBODY GO HEAR OF IT and true true the next morning the news started spreading like wild fire.

When you see a lion sleeping please don’t wake it up because you may not like what the action of the lion.

A quote from the soldier I am borrowing TOMORROW EVERYONE WILL HEAR OF US.
