The national Organizer of the ruling National democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Yammin has expressed concern over the operations of the IGP’s anti‑galamsey taskforce.
Speaking on Kumasi based Abusua FM political talk show host Kojo Marfo, monitored by Kumasi Mail, he questioned why the taskforce seizes excavators that have already been removed from mining sites and parked at private homes.
“We are fighting illegal mining. We have announced that anyone mining illegally should stop operations in all red zones. But now some of them have moved their excavators home, and yet the taskforce goes there to seize them. What is going on?” he asked.
Yammin warned that such actions risk creating unnecessary tension and could undermine the NDC’s government efforts in addressing illegal mining issues.
He warned if the anti- galamsey taskforce team fail to reforming their operation the President will have to descend down to settle scores between the Anti-Galamsey taskforce and the party grassroots base.
He warned “ we will not sit unconcern for our people to be harassed by the Anti- galamsey taskforce. We are in government because of the support we got from some miners. Thing need to be done right and we will have to put people in line’’ he said.
