The head of Corporate Affairs at the Youth Employment Agency, Mr Kwasi Afriyie asserted that the agency in due time will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ghana Police service to absorb 10 percent of Community Police Assistance (CPA) into the mainstream policing.
He disclosed this in an interview with Addai Mununkum our correspondent on the sidelines of the Agency announced that the beneficiaries’ service of engagement officially ends 31st of this month August,2022.
Mr Kwasi Afiriyie was optimistic that the trainees who were recruited under the security module of the Youth Employment Agency [YEA] to assist personnel of the Ghana Police Service helped the service in checking criminal activities and maintaining law and order in the communities they served.
“It will be wise to absorb 10 percent of these trainees into the mainstream policing, we are not saying that the Ghana Police Service should absorb all of them but at least they should give us a 10 percent quota.” he asserted.
“The former CEO of YEA, Mr Justice Frimpong Kodua has started the process of getting them into mainstream policing, Mr Kofi Agyapong the new CEO is also continuing the conversation with the Inspector General of Police to absorb 10 percent of CPA personnel into the mainstream policing,” he said.
He added that the former CEO has written a number of petitions to the IGP to absorb a 10 percent quota for the Agency security module, Mr Kofi Agyapong will also follow the process to make sure to get positive results.
Meanwhile, according to Mr Afiriyie, the recruitment will not be restricted to only outgoing personnel but will be opened to old personnel who want to join the mainstream.
