Haruna Mohammed, Deputy Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged Prof Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation’s to resign if disagrees with the party’s direction.
Speaking to the media, Haruna stressed that membership in the NPP is voluntary and guided by constitutional provisions and that anybody who flouts it will be dealt with accordingly.
“If there is anybody who has to leave, let him leave. The NPP is a national party you joined voluntarily; nobody forced you. If you feel that something untoward is being done that doesn’t align with your expectations, you can appropriately make arrangements to leave,” he said.
Haruna added that, according to the party’s constitution, members who wish to resign should formally write to the chairman of their constituency.
“The NPP is a recognized corporate party. If anyone disagrees with decisions or matters within the party, he can read the constitution and take an exit or early leave,” he noted.
