Akosua Serwaa, the legally married widow of celebrated highlife legend Daddy Lumba, has shared an emotional message of gratitude and resilience after a taxing legal battle over the late musician’s marital status reached a crucial stage in court.
A recent ruling by the Kumasi High Court on November 28, 2025, recognised both Serwaa and Priscilla Ofori widely known as Odo Broni as lawful surviving spouses of the musician. While the outcome was a blow to Serwaa’s attempt to be declared the sole surviving wife, her latest public statement highlights a woman leaning on faith and nationwide support to stay grounded.
In a video now trending on social media, Serwaa, dressed in solemn funeral black, thanked Ghanaians for their unwavering encouragement throughout what she described as one of the most challenging periods of her life.
“I want to first thank God, and secondly, all social media platforms and every Ghanaian, Team Legal Wives and the husbands of members of Team Legal Wives, Papa Shee… the list is endless. You have shown me love and stood by me in these trying times,” she said, her voice filled with emotion.
Instead of dwelling on the ruling, Serwaa chose to emphasise unity and hope, urging her supporters to stay strong:
“Let us continue to walk in love. The victory is for all of us. The Bible says those who put their hope in the Lord will not be disappointed. May God be with us.”
Her lawyer, William Kusi, has vowed to appeal the court’s decision, insisting that Serwaa’s substantive claims remain intact and that they will fight on to secure what they believe to be her rightful recognition as the sole legal wife of the late musician.
