We’ll deliver on our collective vision – New Majority Leader assures

The Majority Caucus in Parliament, led by Mahama Ayariga, has urged Ghanaians to dismiss the New Patriotic Party (NPP) minority caucus, led by Alexander Afenyo-Markin, describing the group as ‘failed.’ In a statement, Ayariga said the public will soon be reminded of Ghana’s challenging situation under the NPP government.

This response comes after Afenyo-Markin attributed the current economic upturn to external factors rather than prudent economic management.

The Minority Leader also accused the government of contributing to the surge in illegal mining activities through the establishment of the Ghana Gold Board.

However, Ayariga countered that the NPP administration left Ghana with significant problems, including a collapsed financial system, severe cedi depreciation, high inflation, and failing social services.

He noted that the NPP government left behind a weak public transport system and that the current administration has begun strengthening state transport fleets.

Ayariga emphasised that the Majority Caucus will push for a detailed audit of the One District One Factory policy, which he described as flawed and marred by corruption.

Additionally, he outlined plans to formalize a 24-hour economy and highlighted the International Monetary Fund’s acknowledgment of Ghana’s recovery, citing improved exchange rates, lower inflation, and stronger foreign reserves.

The statement defended the Ghana Gold Board as a tool for stabilising the cedi and noted the government’s intensified operations against illegal mining, with significant reductions in environmental destruction.
