Ghanaian highlife and afrobeat singer-songwriter, Kuami Eugene has responded to budding Highlife, Afrobeat musician, Mr Drew for calling the former an expert when it comes to stealing other artiste’s songs.
The ‘This Year’ hit singer in an interview admitted to stealing other artiste’s lyrics but claimed his colleague, Kuami Eugene is way ahead of him in stealing others music.
The two talented acts have been tagged as song thieves because they have continually stole either rhythm or lines from other songs.
Mr Drewโs biggest song theft was when the singer sampled Rotimiโs song and was flagged on YouTube for copyright issues. Kuami Eugene on the other hand has often sampled or used lines from other songs which makes people tag him as a song thief.
However, Kuami Eugene reacted to Mr Drew’s song stealing claim with a subtle jab saying “Mr Drew is new. He will get there. He should have fun.“
Kuami Eugene noted that the Highly Spiritual artiste only wants his attention and he will surely give him a dose of what he requesting for.
“This isn’t the first time Mr Drew is coming at me. For me, I won’t mind him. I don’t know what Mr Drew wants from me but I think maybe he wants my attention and now he has gotten to it. He’s new. He will get there. He should have fun.” Kuami Eugene said on Hitz Fm
