The Ghana Reformative Youth Brigade (GRYB) has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, requesting support for a youth-led poultry farming initiative under the government’s “Feed Ghana” programme.

The proposal, led by GRYB Founder and Regency Chair, Mr. Isaac Rockson, aims to empower GRYB members to establish their own poultry farms, with the goal of increasing poultry production in Ghana and reducing the country’s dependence on imported chicken products.

According to the proposal, the initiative aligns with the government’s flagship programme, which aims to promote domestic production and reduce reliance on imports. The poultry industry is a significant contributor to Ghana’s agricultural sector, and increasing domestic production can help reduce the country’s reliance on imports, create jobs, and improve food security.

The proposal requests that the Ministry of Food and Agriculture provides GRYB members with access to Akokonkintinkiti (parent stock) to establish their own farms as a test case. This will enable GRYB to demonstrate the potential of youth-led poultry farming and contribute to the growth and development of the sector.

The benefits of the initiative include increased poultry production, job creation, and entrepreneurship opportunities for youth, as well as a contribution to the growth and development of Ghana’s agricultural sector.

The proposal outlines a phased implementation plan, starting with a pilot project involving a select group of GRYB members. The pilot project will be used to test the feasibility of the initiative and identify areas for improvement.

GRYB is committed to contributing to the growth and development of Ghana’s agricultural sector and believes that this initiative has the potential to make a significant impact.

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture is expected to review the proposal and consider GRYB’s request for support.
