Leader of Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen has commended Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his unwavering dedication, fostering unity and development for the past 25 years as Asantehene.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is the 16th Asantehene, (King of the Asante) ascended the Golden Stool on April 26, 1999.
He is a direct descendant of the founder of the Asante Kingdom, Osei Tutu l.
Born on 6th May 1950 and named Barima Kwaku Dua, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is the youngest of the five children of Nana Afua Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, Asantehemaa (Queenmother of Asante).
From early childhood, Barima Kwaku Dua came under the tutelage of his Uncle, Oheneba Mensah Bonsu who had been enstooled as Hiahene in 1952.
Although today marks exactly 25 years since the great king ascended the throne, the Silver Jubilee anniversary will be marked on Akwasidaekese on June 12 at Dwabrem, Manhyia Palace.
In a congratulatory message to His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on the momentous occasion of the 25th anniversary of his ascension to the Golden Stool as Asantehene, Mr. Kyerematen said “Your reign has been a beacon of wisdom, strength, and unwavering dedication to the Asante people. You have embodied the very spirit of the Asanteman, leading with grace, fostering unity, and promoting development”.
He also mentioned that Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has over the years seen Asanteman flourish, experiencing a period of remarkable growth and prosperity.
Not forgetting the great king’s role in education, the former Minister of Trade and Industry also acknowledged Otumfuo’s tireless efforts in education, healthcare, and cultural preservation adding that his dedication has secured a brighter future for generations to come.

Your leadership on the national and international stage has earned you the honour and respect of dignitaries worldwide. May your reign continue to be blessed with wisdom, longevity, and ever-increasing success for Asanteman”, Alan Kyerematen stated.
