Renowned Actress and Producer, Yvonne Nelson, has urged IMANI Africa to rally for change with a demonstration against the current power crisis, famously dubbed ‘Dumsor,’ under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration in Ghana.
In a recent statement, Nelson expressed her eagerness for IMANI’s involvement, recalling their successful collaboration during a similar outcry in 2015.
“IMANI Ghana, can we join forces once again? I’ve been anticipating your call, reminiscent of our impactful partnership years ago. It’s time to take a stand. The disregard shown by the NPP and its leadership @NAkufoAddo towards Ghanaians cannot go unchallenged. #DUMSORMUSTSTOP,” Nelson declared in her post.

Responding to Nelson’s plea, Franklin Cudjoe, head of IMANI, affirmed their commitment to action, emphasizing strategic planning and collaboration for maximum impact.
“We acknowledge the impassioned plea by Ms. Yvonne Nelson for a resurgence of #dumsormuststop. It’s a valid call, given our consistent critique of governmental missteps and the recent peak in power outages. As evident from our preparations (T-shirts), we’re gearing up to mobilize and strategize for an effective demonstration. Meanwhile, diverse forms of protest can also spring forth in churches, mosques, bars, schools, and households. #DUMSORMUSTSTOP,” Cudjoe announced.
The 2015 ‘Dumsor Vigil,’ spearheaded by IMANI Ghana and Yvonne Nelson, alongside numerous celebrities, marked a pivotal moment during the tenure of Former President John Dramani Mahama, reflecting the widespread frustration over erratic power supply.
