The Atwima Nwabiagya North Youth Association in the Ashanti Region has protested against the government for neglecting their district.
The youth leaders, Kandiire Joachim and Richard Williams, have made it clear that their next line of voting will be dependent on the infrastructural development in the district.
Barekese, the capital of the Atwima Nwabiagya North Assembly, is said to be the district that provides 90% of the drinking water for the people of Ashanti Region but has for years been deprived of infrastructural and social developments.
In an exclusive interview, Mr. Kandiire said the indifference of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the current government, and the National Democratic Congress to the previous government attitude towards them has caused apathy among their rank and file.
In a press statement, the aggrieved youth expressed their utmost disappointment in both NPP government and NDC for neglecting them.
According to them, although the majority of the people in the district are staunch NPP supporters, they do not care about the party anymore.
“We no longer have the NPP in our DNA. It is gone. They’ve disappointed us especially, the constituents of Atwima Nwabiagya North,” the youth fumed.
In their view, since assuming the reign of government in 2017, the party has not undertaken any developmental projects in Atwima Nwabiagya North to improve the lives of its constituents.
According to them, the deplorable state of the Asuofua-Barekese road is yet to be constructed.
Touching on the challenges the Atwima Nwabiagya North faces, the youth said the NPP government does not only exploit the love they have for the party but disrespects the residents as well. They were of the view that the party consistently deceives them about ‘invisible’ projects.
