The Police have this evening arrested a Police officer, Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, who is alleged to have shot and killed a female adult, who was believed to be his girlfriend.
The shooting incident occurred in Kumasi, in the Ashanti region, on Thursday, 20th April 2023.
The suspect, who has been on the run since the incident, was arrested at Sekyere, near Effiduase in the Ashanti Region as a result of a special Police operation, which was launched following the shooting incident.
The suspect is currently in Police custody and will be put before the court to face justice.
Background
A young lady identified as Adwoa, was allegedly shot by her supposed boyfriend over relationship issues at the forecourt of Dufie Towers, Adum, Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
Residents were left in shock and disbelief after the young lady was shot five times by her boyfriend.
According to reports, the boyfriend suspected the lady was cheating, but the deceased denied the allegations and decided to break up with him, which got him infuriated.
He, however, pleaded with her to reconsider the decision, but she declined.
In the heat of arguments, the boyfriend allegedly pulled out a gun and shot her multiple times, leading to her untimely death.
Reports further indicated that the Kumasi Police have launched a manhunt for the boyfriend and are appealing to anyone with information to assist them with investigations.
The devastated and left-in-shock family is however urging authorities to ensure that justice is served to serve as a caution to partners who take the law into their own hands during relationship issues.
