Popular Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah, known as Lil Win, has disclosed that he has the intention to contest the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency seat in the upcoming 2024 parliamentary elections.
With no affiliation to any political party, the actor plans to unseat William Owuraku Aidoo, who now represents the constituency in parliament.
Speaking to Okay FM, he disclosed that the decision to enter politics has become crucial as a result of several chiefs and some other influential constituents pushing him to run for the seat.
“In October last year, I was approached by some elderly and influential people in the constituency, asking me to contest as an independent candidate. They promised to support me financially and support me in every way to claim the seat,” he said.
Kwadwo Nkansah stated that although he was originally hesitant to accept their request, he changed his mind after his family showed support and asked him to contest.
“They told me they decided for me to contest as an independent because they do not want me to divide my followers by standing on the ticket of NPP or NDC.
“They also said they would employ English tutors to help me speak the language well.
“I spoke to my family and they also told me that they wouldn’t support me if I am going to parliament on the ticket of either NPP, NDC or CPP so they said if it is the people within the constituency calling on me to go as an independent candidate, then they support me.”
He further noted what he will do for the constituency if he gets the nod.
“If we had many jobs in the constituency, I believe they would have had something to do, which will stop them from alcoholism and drugs. So, I will create jobs which will help alleviate poverty in the constituency.
