The manager of Arsenal, Mikel Arteta, has praised Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey for his role in helping the Gunners secure an emphatic win over Chelsea in their Premier League game on Tuesday night.
In a humiliating night for Chelsea, Mikel Arteta’s men put five past the Blues to maintain their lead in the Premier League title race.
Thomas Partey made his first start this year, after recovering from an injury which kept him out for a long time.
Paired in the midfield with Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard, the 30-year-old brought dynamism to the midfield with his passes and composure on the ball.
Speaking after the game, Arteta said Partey is an important player for Arsenal in their title chase.
“We thought that it was a really good game for Thomas to come back. He looks like he is in rhythm, he trained really well the last few days, and the way they set up and the players they are having, and the way attack especially, we believed that it was the right call to make and then he stepped up. I think he had a great performance and he was really important for the team.”
After winning their game yesterday, the results for both Liverpool and Manchester City will be very crucial for the Gunners.
