The Minister of Roads and Highways, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye has met with the “Buzstopboys” and promised that his Ministry would work with them to find effective solutions to flooding issues.
The minister stated that having previously served as Minister of Works and Housing and now as Minister of Roads and Highways, he had realised that their small contributions were related to those of the Ministry in terms of providing infrastructure for citizens.
According to him one of the primary reasons for flooding in Ghana was that drains were always silted and, therefore lost capacity to absorb or contain water.
Asenso-Boakye made a personal donation of GHS10,000.00 to support the group’s initiatives and assured them of the Ministry’s readiness to collaborate with them to tackle floods.
He stressed that development was a shared responsibility, where the government played its part, but corporate bodies, individuals and other agencies must also play their parts.
Mr Oheneba Kojo Sarfo, leader and founder of the group thanked the Ministry for supporting the team to continue with their course, adding that “indeed it is a collective responsibility, and we cannot do it all regardless, we need the state to support us to get the activities going.”
