The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has announced that the government of Ghana has put all plans in place to receive the body of the former Ghanaian forward, Christian Atsu.
Over two weeks after the Turkish earthquake, the 31-year-old’s lifeless body was discovered under the wreckage of his house on Saturday.
Meanwhile, a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has indicated that government of Ghana has put measures in place to receive the remains of the former Black Stars player this evening.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration hereby informs that the Government of Ghana is making arrangements to receive the mortal remains of the late Christian Atsu, a former Black Stars player.
“The remains will be accompanied by his family and Ghana’s Ambassador to Turkey on a Turkish airlines flight and will arrive in Accra at 7:40 p.m today Sunday, 19th February, 2023,” part of the statement said.
The Ministry also added that, family of Atsu, Government of Ghana and the Ghana Football Association will be at the Kotoka International Airport to welcome his body.
“The remains will be received at the Kotoka International Airport by the family, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Government upon its arrival from Istanbul, Turkey.”
