Bono East: Floods destroy homes and properties at Vutideke

Torrential rains over the week destroyed houses and displaced hundreds of people in Vutideke, a community near a river in the Pru-East District of the Bono East region.

Torrential rains over the week destroyed houses and displaced hundreds of people in Vutideke, a community near a river in the Pru-East District of the Bono East region.

The rains wreaked havoc, flooding numerous homes and ruining property worth tens of thousands of Ghana cedis.

As a result, many of the residents in the affected communities have had to relocate from the area to put up with their family members in neighbouring communities.

Residents lamented that the situation is alarming as it had really affected their daily life. the situation is very bad. Buildings have collapsed, and people have lost their belongings—clothing, cooking utensils, furniture—even schoolchildren, who have had their uniforms, school bags, and books swept away by the floods.

Opinion leader, Mr. Williams Adjormani, said, This is not the first time we have experienced this flooding. It occurs every rainy season, but this year’s is just too much. They have reported it to the Assemblyman and the district assembly for help.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Boam, the NDC parliamentary candidate for Pru-East, is appealing to NADMO and philanthropists to come to their aid.
