The Special Aide and Spokesperson for the Bryan Acheampong Campaign, Pius Enam Hadzide, has affirmed that Dr. Bryan Acheampong does not engage in politics of tribal sentiments and inuendos, while debunking allegations that the latter is engaging in tribal politics.
During a via phone-interview on Monday, August 25, on Republic FM’s morning show with Akwasi Amoah Nyamekye, Pius Enam Hadzide noted with grace concern that the purported video circulating on social media in which the Abetifi lawmaker was said to have engaged in tribal politics are purely distorted and put together to create a scene.
“Dr. Bryan Acheampong does not engage in tribal politics. The allegations leveled against him are untenable because Bryan Acheampong never passed those comments. I want to set the record straight and urge the general public to disregard the video circulating on social media,” Pius noted.
There have been series of propaganda, claiming that the immediate past Food and Agriculture Minister, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, attributed the NPP’s woeful defeat in the 2024 elections to ‘tribal sentiments’ surrounding Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s candidacy. Some of the allegations claimed, Dr. Acheampong had suggested that the longstanding unrest between Mamprusis and Kusasis contributed largely to the poor performance of the NPP in constituencies in the Northern regions.
In a reprimanding response, Pius Hadzide insisted the comments have been misrepresented through what he describes as “selective editing”. According to him, Bryan Acheampong’s words have been twisted by irresponsible editing for sensationalism on social media pageantry. He emphasized that Dr. Bryan Acheampong only described his contender for the Presidential flagbearer race, Dr. Bawumia, as a ‘victim of circumstance’, and not a cause of division.
“Dr. Acheampong’s statement is not about division. It is mainly about uniting the party and positioning the party for victory in the upcoming December 2028 elections. Dr. Bryan Acheampong only described Dr. Bawumia as a victim of circumstances. This meant that Dr. Bryan was only saying that Dr. Bawumia cannot be blamed for the defeat of the party in the elections. This statement is not divisive in any way. Some individuals only want to disintegrate the party,” Pius said.
