Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), has upheld the decision by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Election Committee to disqualify George Afriyie from the 2023 GFA Presidential election race.
This comes after the former GFA Vice President proceeded to CAS to appeal his disqualification in September last year.
The GFA Elections Committee disqualified Mr. Afriyie as a result of his inability to secure the necessary number of GFA members to support his candidature.
Meanwhile, CAS dismissed all relief motions in a statement dated Monday, May 6, 2024.
George Afriyie has, however, been directed by CAS to pay an amount of 1000 Swiss Francs to the GFA as legal fees.
The election which was held last year in Tamale, saw Kurt Okraku go unopposed, polling 117 of 120 votes to maintain his seat as the GFA President.
