Residents of Asuoja-Asikasu, a community in the New Juaben North municipality in the Eastern Region, have appealed to the government to consider providing the community with a health facility to enable them to have easy and timely access to health care services.

According to them, they had to trek a long distance before they could access healthcare at a Asikasu No 1 and in some cases, patients are being referred to Healthcare Centres in the New Juaben North District.

Speaking to Republiconline’s reporter, Ahinkawa Judy, the Dademantse of Asuoja-Asikasu, Emmanuel Larweh Doku, stated that, residents of Asuoja-Asikasu face a lot of challenges when it comes to health care delivery in the community.

“People in my community die on their way to seek for medical treatment most often, and due to bad roads, commercial drivers hardly work around here, patients are being carried to Asuoja- Asikasu and sometimes when they get there, they are being referred,” he said.

“Measures are being put in place to construct a chip compound for the people of Asuoja- Asikasu but the funds we are soliciting is not ready,” the assemblyman for Asikasu, Benjamin Naa Larbo said.

He therefore said having a health facility at Asuoja- Asikasu will help reduce the health challenges of the people at the community.
