The family of the victim involved in Sunday’s fatal shooting incident has rebutted claims made by the police, insisting that the deceased was not a robber, but a driver’s mate.
Identified as Kwaku Sey, the victim had recently returned from Accra with his employer when the tragic incident occurred at Lakeside in Dambai, located in the Oti Region.
While the police service are yet to officially comment on the matter, they have engaged with local chiefs and the family, maintaining that officers were dispatched to arrest a suspected robber connected to a recent robbery near Dambai.
According to police accounts, a scuffle ensued during the arrest attempt, culminating in the shooting.
