The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has held a capacity development workshop for it staff and stakeholders.
As part of the week long capacity development workshop, the Ministry through the Human Trafficking Secretariat (HTS) with support from GIZ- Program Migration & Diaspora (PMD) undertook the second module of the training on human trafficking, gender and migration governance for staff of the Ministry from 1st July to 2nd July, 2021.
Addressing participants on behalf of the Minister for Gender, Children & Social Protection, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo; the Chief Director for the Ministry, Dr. Afisah Zakariah expressed her sincere gratitude to GIZ for supporting the Ministry undertake this timely capacity building training program.
According to the Chief Director, Migration governance, gendered issues as well as human trafficking are very cross cutting and broad.
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection therefore views this initiative as an obligation towards achieving the overarching goal of the Ministry that aims at promoting the survival, social protection, as well as uphold human rights need indepth knowledge and competence.
The workshop (which seeks to sensitize staff to professionally handle issues of human trafficking) aims at specifically training MoGCSP’s Staff in areas such as improve the knowledge of participants on the migration concepts in the National Migration Policy which has to do with Irregular Migration, Human Trafficking and Migrant smuggling.
Other areas included build participants capacity in key thematic areas that highlights gender discourses and enhance the knowledge of participants on โmigrationโ and how it is related to gender-based violence as well as issues related to the L.I. on domestic workers in Ghana, migration to the Gulf countries and its gendered implications.
