The Ghana-Highway Authority on Thursday, September 14, 2023, began the demolition of two out of eight of the booths on the Accra-Tema Motorway.

The exercise comes as a result of recent accidents that occurred on the motorway and also traffic congestion.

Speaking to the site engineer in charge of the demolition, Samuel Idan, he said the exercise was very important because it would allow for the free-flow movement of vehicles on the highway.

“The exercise we are doing is to pave the way for us to have a straight path from Tema towards Accra, he said”

He urged road users to adhere to their traffic management plan.

“We hope to finish within the next three hours so with our road signs which we have placed here, we entreat that drivers coming from Tema towards the toll booth adhere to our traffic management plan.

Meanwhile, officials of the Ghana Highway Authority were on site to inspect the ongoing work but refused to comment on the demolition exercise.
