The government of Ghana has officially launched the Performance Tracker to aid in information delivery, ensure transparency and accountability.
The launch which took place at Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), in Accra on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, saw the Minster for Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah do the honors on behalf of President Akufo-Addo.
Speaking at the launch Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, revealed that the tracker dubbed “Performance Tracker 2.0″ will help address longstanding concerns about the use of government funds and all projects government has undertaken.
He mentioned that the Performance Tracker encompasses a wide array of projects, including infrastructure and service delivery initiatives, validated across all sixteen regions of the country adding that the latest data available on the platform is from June 2023.
The minister emphasized the ongoing efforts to continuously update the Performance Tracker, with various ministries and agencies contributing data beyond the June 2023 time frame.
The Performance Tracker according to Oppong Nkrumah is user-friendly, and accessible through both a website and a mobile application.
“The performance tracker is a database that showcases the performances of the government of Ghana and it is going to show you the various projects that have been executed across the country. This database has two interfaces; a website and an application. Today the mobile phone is very powerful too and sometimes even beyond what your desktop can do”, he said.
He also revealed that the platform has undergone a rigorous validation process, including geo-tagging and photographing projects for transparency.
