Assin North Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong received an invitation to the 2022 Asogli Yam Festival as a consequence of an administrative error, for which the Secretary to the Asogli State has apologised to both parties.

There are numerous rumours that Mr Agyapong’s gifts were refused by Togbe Afede, the Paramount Chief of the Asogli State, at the durbar grounds.

Stephen Tetteh, the secretary to the Asogli State Council, explained what happened in a statement. He said Mr Agyapong asked for an invitation to the Yam festival through his representatives.

However, the Asogli State Council disapproved of it because of “several loose comments and utterances he made which the council viewed as unbecoming of an honourable member of Ghana’s parliament”.

Mr Tetteh said given this he takes responsibility for the administrative lapse which resulted in sending an invitation letter to Mr Agyapong and has, thus, apologised to Mr Agyapong and the Asogli State Council.
