Daniel Asiedu, the suspect accused of murdering Abuakwa North Member of Parliament, Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu, has denied knowing the MP or his residence prior to his arrest, stating that he was only shown a photo of the MP by police, allegedly under the directive of Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.
Asiedu, known as “Sexy Don Don,” is currently on trial for the February 8, 2016, murder, appearing before Justice Lydia Osei Marfo at the Accra High Court. He is presenting his defense after the prosecution, led by Principal State Attorney Mrs. Sefakor Batse, closed its case. The court had earlier ruled that Asiedu had a case to answer.
Along with the murder charge, Asiedu also faces a robbery charge. He was acquitted of conspiracy charges tied to Vincent Bossu, who has since been freed.
In his defense, Asiedu disputed the prosecution’s claims, stating, “The police’s claims are untrue. I only learned of the MP and his address when shown a photo by police and taken to his residence by Dampare and his officers.”
He further asserted, “I have never met the deceased, bear no grudges, and have done no wrong.”
The case is set to continue on November 12, 2024.
