The former National Chairman of the largest Opposition party NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has made a frantic statement as far as the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary primaries are concerned.

According to Mr. Ampofo, he has no interest whatsoever in becoming or contesting the flagbearership of the NDC and he willingly supports former President John Mahama, the presumptive flagbearer of the party, going into the 2024 presidential elections.

He stressed that posters and flyers on social media about his supposed interest in contesting the flagbearership race are fake given that he has no such ambitions.

“My attention has been drawn to a mischievous flyer bearing the inscription “Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo for President 2024” that’s in circulation on various media platforms.

I wish to state that, I have absolute confidence in former President John Mahama’s leadership going into the 2024 general elections and could not have authored that poster or sanctioned it.

I have no interest in contesting President Mahama in the upcoming flagbearership race,” he said in a statement on social media.

He then decried the persistent attacks on his person over the last three months, urging all and sundry to disregard the current attempt to court contempt for his person by unidentified and unscrupulous persons.

“I’m deeply concerned about the continuous malicious attacks directed at me over the last three months and view this as another failed attempt to cause disaffection for me. Kindly ignore this fake poster intended for specific effects by faceless, and shameless authors,” he concluded.

Mr Ofosu Ampofo, a stalwart of the NDC, recently lost the National Chairmanship position to Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.
