Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has reacted to the allegation that he has been involved in double registration.
This comes after some persons shared a video of him at a voter registration centre, claiming that he tried to double register.
According to him, the allegation is an attempt by members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to misinform the public and has thus described it as false and without merit.
Explaining what transpired in a social media post, he said he has since the year 2000, been voting in Ketu South, but had encountered a problem with his biometrics during the 2023 limited voter registration exercise, which he had tried to get a solution to.
“Today, I went to the registration centre where I registered in 2020 to fix the EC’s administrative error, but I was met with a frivolous and obstructive challenge to my eligibility.
“Despite my attempts to advise the NDC challenger to stop obstructing the registration process, both the NDC agents and EC officials paid no attention”
Mr. Ahiagbah however urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to take decisive action to make sure that interruptions of this nature don’t happen again.
“This challenge is a sign of more disruptive acts to come. Therefore, I urge the EC to take a firm and decisive stance to deal with these tendencies and ensure peace.”
He further expressed his commitment to ensuring that he goes through the process in order to get his name on the register.
