The Ghana Police Service has arrest one suspect identified as “Muniru Muhammad” in connection with the disturbances that occurred in Kukuom in the Ahafo Region during the ongoing limited voter registration centre on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
The disturbances which ensued between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) led to the initial arrest of the Member of Parliament for Asutifi South, Collins Dauda, who was subsequently released.
The NDC, in a statement condemned the arrest and added that Collins Dauda committed no crime.
However in a brief update from the Police on Monday May 13, 2024, it announced the arrest “Muniru Muhammad who according to the police allegedly took part in the attack which led to the injury of one person at the Kukuom registration centre.”
The police further revealed that, they are also “pursuing more suspects in the disturbance including those involved in the alleged assault on some three persons”.
“We want to assure the public that all suspects in these cases will be arrested and put before court to face justice”, the police said.
