The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong has launched a new initiative aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture and enhancing food security in Ghana.

This initiative is a collaboration between Sustain Africa, ETG, the African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership (AFAP), and the Ministry of Food & Agriculture, Ghana.

In his address, the Minister underscored that fertiliser is one most important factors of production for farmers, without which yield would not be increased. ‘’Achieving food security requires enough fertiliser available at affordable prices, at any time, ‘’ the Minister added.

He also seized the opportunity and called on actors in the food system chain to collaborate with the government to solve the problem of the high cost of fertilisers in the country.

He indicated that as much as the world fertiliser price is on the decline, Fertilizer companies in Ghana should reduce the fertiliser for farmers to have access to increasing yields to ensure food security.
