The Ministry of Food and Agriculture in collaboration with the Israeli embassy has selected over 100 students from Colleges and Universities across the country to be sent to Israel to acquire practical knowledge on the Israeli agricultural system.
This initiative is part of the country’s move to modernize and boost the country’s agricultural sector for sustainable growth and development.
The students would be taken through several activities and courses such as tree farming, aqua farming, irrigation, post-harvest, and entrepreneurship as well as maintaining international standards to enable them to export what they would later grow in the country.
In a meeting with the selected students, the Minster of Food and Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie-Akoto asked students to be ambassadors of Ghana and take this opportunity to acquire the needed skills in agriculture production.
According to the Minister, the interns were expected to come back to Ghana and share knowledge and technology acquired with other farmers in the country while they establish their own farms.
Dr Afriyie-Akoto further assured the students of the government’s support throughout the program and urged them to make their country proud as others have done in the past.
